Poker is recognized as an "intellectual game"

April 29, 2009 at Lausanne was created International Poker Federation (International Federation of Poker, IFP). And now, exactly one year later, the IFP achieved the recognition of poker as an "intellectual game", along with bridge and chess.

Poker will add to the list of disciplines within World Mind Sport Games, which will be held in parallel with the London 2012 Olympics. The World Mind Sport Games were held for the first time after the 2008 Summer Olympics in five disciplines - chess, bridge, go, checkers and xiangqi (Chinese chess).

President of the International Association of Intellectual Games (IAIG) - Jose Damiani said: “I am delighted to welcome the International Federation of Poker as a member of the IAIG. Becoming poker alongside chess and bridge and other intellectual games in IAIG's annual events will prove to the world, that poker is truly an intellectual game. "
