Two Russians at the 2008 WSOPE Final Table

Day 4 of the 2008 WSOPE Main Event was very successful for Russian athletes - two of them made it to the finals of the competition at once. Nonetheless, American John Juanda ended the day as the chip leader. Among the professionals who started yesterday, in addition to Juanda, were Daniel Negrenu, Erik Seidel, Mel Yudah, Mike Matusow and Andy Bloch, who later left the tournament in 24th place (28,960 pounds).

Mel Yudah, like Andy Bloch before, fell victim to Juanda's huge stack. Yudah moved all-in with Qd-Qs and Juanda called with A-5... However, A-3-6-2-9and Yudah finished 21st (£ 28,960). Shortly thereafter, Erik Seidel bet all his remaining chips on weak 7-3... He was answered by Soren Kongsgaard holding a pair of aces. Dealer handed out 9-4-3-5-2 and that meant 19 seats for Seidel (£ 28,960).

Mike Matusow was forced to settle for 18th place (£ 36,200) after he shoved all-in on a flop of 4-7-9... Johnny Lodden calls with a double draw, 5-6and Matusov showed only Js-10h. Turn and River 5-2 brought a loss for Mike.

Daniel Negreniu A-Q knocked out Brandon Adams K-Q in 17th place. Immediately thereafter, with a straight on the flop, he sent Justin Smith home in 16th place (£ 36,200).

Brian Townsend bet all his chips on A-8and Scott Fishman called with a pair of tens. Cards on the Q table-5-8-J-J identified 15th place for Brian (45 250$).

Stanislav Alekhin knocked out Soren Kongsgaard in 12th place (£ 54,300). Kongsgaard, short stacked, went all in with A-7 and got a call from Alekhine, who was holding A-K... The following cards were dropped K-10-9-6-J and Soren Kongsgaard took off.

Johnny Lodden said goodbye to the tournament in 11th place (£ 54,300), and the last loser one step to the final table was Neff, who lost his stack to our Ivan Demidov.

So, John Juanda is leading at the final table, closely followed by Russians Stanislav Alekhin, Ivan Demidov and PokerStars face Daniel Negrenu.
