The world's largest online poker room, Poker stars announces the replenishment of the ranks of its official representatives - world stars. National Hockey League icon and former captain of The Toronto Maple Leafs Mets Sandine (Mats Sundin) will be playing online and live poker as the new brand ambassador for PokerStars.
Nicknamed "MatsSundin", the 37-year-old Olympic champion plans to play regularly on the PokerStars website, as well as at various tournaments and the PokerStars International Poker Tour. The latter includes the European Poker Tour, which kicked off its fifth season in Barcelona last week.
The Mets initially played in the NHL for The Quebec Nordiques, and later joined the PokerStars sponsored team The Toronto Maple Leafs. As an NHL player, Sandine:
- the longest term was the captain of the NHL - non-American;
- the first Swedish player to score 500 goals;
- record holder for washers in overtime;
Is the first player to score 400 goals while playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Mets has represented Sweden in many international events, winning 7 medals. He has participated in 3 Olympic Games and 5 International Championships since 1992.
Early in his professional NHL career, the Mets played card games, particularly poker. He says he is delighted to represent PokerStars and is looking forward to showcasing his skills against the PokerStars pros.
