There are three types of bets in poker - Fixed Limit, No-Limit and Pot-Limit. In this regard, the tables are divided not only by the types of poker (Hold'em, Omaha and others), but also by the type of bets that a player at the table can make during his turn.
Basic types of poker bets
Fixed Limit (FL) Betting Rules
Maximum rate
On tables with a fixed limit, a player in the first (preflop) and second round (flop) of the game can make a bet equal to the lower limit of the table limit - the small blind (for example, if the game is played at a table with a fixed limit $1 / $2, the player's bet in the first and the second round of the game will be 1$). In the third (turn) and fourth (river) rounds, the player can place bets or raises equal to the upper limit of the table limit - the big blind (for example, if the game is played at a table with a fixed limit $1 / $2, the player can bet 2$).
Minimum bet
The minimum bet that a player can make is equal to the amount of the bet (or the largest increase) that previous players have made. If there were no other bets before the player's move, then the minimum bet or raise will be equal to the size of the big blind.
No Limit (NL) Table Betting Rules
Maximum rate
The player's maximum bet is not limited and is determined by the size of his stack (the number of player's chips at the table). At any time when the player's turn comes, he can put all the chips that he took with him to the table.
Minimum bet
At the beginning of each game round, the minimum bet is reset and determined by the size of the big blind.
The minimum bet or raise a player can make is equal to the largest previous raise (or bet) in the current round of play. If there were no other bets before the player's move, then the minimum bet or raise will be equal to the big blind.
All-in bet
If the player does not have enough chips for the minimum raise, but there are more of them than is needed for the call, then the player still has the opportunity to bet all of his chips.
Pot-Limit (PL) Betting Rules
Maximum rate
The maximum bet that a player can make at the pot-limit tables is equal to the size of the pot at the time of the player's turn.
The calculation of the maximum raise a player can make involves the size of the bet that the player must call before raising.
Minimum bet
The minimum bet (raise) that a player can make at the pot-limit tables is equal to the largest previous raise (or bet) in the current game round. If there were no other bets before the player's move, then the minimum bet or raise will be equal to the size of the big blind.
