TJ Cloutier - Road to Greatness

There are legendary players in the history of poker, whose roads to Olympus poker are very interesting and different. Among the players like Moss, Slim and Brunson, TJ Cloutier deserves a place. Although he never won a major tournament in the WSOP, unlike the aforementioned players, he has achieved the status of "the greatest tournament poker player of all time".

Cloutier, born in Albany. State of Texas, in 1939. He now lives in Richardson, Texas. As a child, during his school year, he played in the football team as a midfielder, and was a very successful player. He took part in tournaments. Then he dropped out of school to work. Further - the army, where there were many people, played and honed their skills in poker, among which was the famous Mike Sexton.

After the army, TJ goes to continue his career as a football player, where after some time he gets into the Canadian football league. This is where he continues to grow as a player, first with the Montreal Alouettes, then with the Toronto Argonauts. But something unrecoverable happened, and he gets a knee injury, after which the doctors tell him about the end of his football career. He goes to work for his father, but eventually becomes a poker player.

He started playing the WSOP in 1983 and has only missed one WSOP since then. He won about 60 tournaments with buy-ins of 500$ and above. The number of tournaments in which he took part is incalculable. As stated, he has never won the biggest WSOP event ever, but he has made it to the final table 4 times. He is the holder of 6 WSOP bracelets, including Omaha and Texas Holdem. TJ has taken part in 48 WSOP events throughout his playing career. He also took part in the World Poker Tour, where he made the final tables three times.

Cloutier has written a number of books with 1983 world champion Tom McEvoy. Their work has been recognized as one of the finest in poker strategy. In addition, there is a computer simulator program - World Class Poker with TJ Cloutier, which is one of the best on the market today.

His aggressive play and intimidating bet sizes propelled him to success at the tables. He possesses, as he himself stated, a photographic memory of the way players play in certain situations, which he later successfully applies for analysis.

TJ Cloutier is a cheerful man, married, father of six children. For all tournaments, if possible. he visits with his wife.

This player never stops playing poker, and he rightfully deserves a place on the Olympus of poker.
