Report on the first stage of the Open Championship of Ukraine in Sports Poker

Open Championship of Ukraine in Sports Poker 2008 successfully launched from the Crimean Peninsula. The championship will be held in Ukraine in three rounds: apart from Sevastopol, sports poker tournaments will be held in Kiev and Donetsk.

The Ukrainian Championship has the status of an open competition, therefore, representatives of not only Ukraine, but also other countries are invited to participate. The Council of the Federation of Poker of Ukraine declared its attitude to anyone who wins the Championship: "If we get the Champion of Ukraine who is a citizen of any other country: Georgia, Belarus, Russia, Slovenia, then it will be an honor for us when he (or she) will represent Ukraine at the world competitions ", - said Geri Bowman during a live broadcast on radio" Era "

Sevastopol, square of the 300th anniversary of the Russian fleet, "Calypso".

The first round of intellectual sports poker competitions took place from June 5 to June 8, 2008 in the hero-city of Sevastopol, on the shores of the gentle Black Sea in the picturesque Art Bay - a recreation center for citizens. The poker club "Calypso" and its owner Alexander Smagin became the party that hospitably hosted the Ukrainian Poker Federation. The full organization was taken over by Oleg Sharko, one of the Bowman Cup Champions and a representative of the Sevastopol FPU organization.

The championship opened with a Texas Hold'em NL tournament with a buy-in of $500 + $50. The composition of the participants was very wide, representatives of Georgia, Russia, and of course, many regions of Ukraine took part in the competition, in general, 41 players took part in the competition that day. The intellect competition is a truly exciting show, each player had his own style, his own strategy, so to speak, the game system, and it was very interesting to watch the fight. The list of winners of this tournament was formed as follows:

1 place - Zatsepin Vasily

2nd place - Dubinsky Igor

3rd place - Pilyavsky Vladimir

4th place - Vaschenko Andrey

5th place - Andryushchenko Oleg

6th place - Nadtochy Sergey

7th place - Nikiforov Sergey

8th place - Vitaly Budnik

Apparently, the native walls helped Vasily Zatsepin from Sevastopol get a victory.

The second day of the Championship included a Texas Hold'em NL tournament with a buy-in of $1000 + $100. 35 participants were registered for this tournament. The intense struggle between the participants was conducted very professionally - it was the level of high intellectual sport! By the way, the representatives of the beautiful half of humanity competed on equal terms with men, which only confirms the fact that the intellectual abilities of the players are the most important in sports poker, and this sport is one of the few that puts both women and men on an equal footing.

At the final table, an unrivaled battle for victory unfolded. All the players were of a very high level and each had the opportunity to take first place.

The star of the day was Alexander Aleinikov from the city of Kherson, Ukraine, who knocked out the victory over the representative of Kharkov Vladimir Zakharov. As a result, the standings of the second day of the Championship looks like this:

1 place - Aleinikov Alexander

2nd place - Zakharov Vladimir

3rd place - Dombovsky Eduard

4th place - Mikulik Taras

5th place - Trubkin Artem

6th place - Kitesashvili Georgy

7th place - Yudina Alexandra

In the Omaha PL $300 + $30 tournament, which turned out to be not so popular (they do not play Omaha in Sevastopol, local poker players told us), the victory was distributed as follows:

1 place - Alexander Dovzhenko

2nd place - Ilya Kainov

3rd place - Boris Khripkov

4th place - Denis Utenin

Ranking of the first round of the Open Championship

For the rating of the first round, which took place in Sevastopol, the places are distributed as follows:

1 place - Alexander Aleinikov

2nd place - Vladimir Zakharov

3rd place - Vasily Zatsepin

4th place - Eduard Dombovsky

5th place - Igor Dubinsky

6th place - Vladimir Pilyavsky

7th place - Taras Mikulik

Thus, the overall rating of the Ukrainian Poker Federation has slightly changed. Aleksandr Aleinikov (Kharkov, Ukraine) pushed the Muscovite Ekaterina Rimskaya-Korsakova from second place, who is now third. The first place for the results of three out of eight rating tournaments so far remains with the resident of Sverdlovsk Oleg Andryushchenko, who received partial support from the Ukrainian Poker Federation for a trip to Las Vegas.

Tournament sensation

The sensation of the tournament was the act of the first for the rating, Alexander Aleinikov. One of the dealers, sports poker instructors, red-haired Valentina, received "tea" from Alexander in the amount of $ 1,000. The remaining dealers split the amount of $ 270 among themselves. Such an unexpectedly generous voluntary "donation" has become one of the pleasant surprises and a long debated topic among dealers. You can read interview with Alexander Aleinikov on our website.

Second round of the Open Championship

According to Larisa Kovalchuk, Director of the Foreign Relations Department of the FPU, the second round of the Open Championship will be held in the capital of Ukraine. The venue for sports poker competitions will be the Gehry Bowman's Poker Club ("Platon"), which is located in Podil in Kiev (Mezhigorskaya st., 87 "B"). The arrival from London of the Honorary President of the Ukrainian Poker Federation Gehry Bowman is expected to officially open the second round of the Ukrainian Championship.
