Tokyo tournament starts All Japan Poker Championship which is the largest tournament in the land of the rising sun. Famous in the poker world, promotion firm Global Mix provides organizational support for the tournament. Since casinos in Japan are still not legalized, the main goal of the tournament is to present poker as a sporting and cultural experience.
Another problem that the organizers faced was that in Japan there is a nationwide ban on money bets, so the organizers had to refuse entry fees. Players can get to the main tournament only by winning one of the preliminary tournaments, which will be held in Osaka and Tokyo.
The winner of the tournament will receive a champion bracelet and a place on 2008WSOP.
